The Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) is a simple, non-invasive test used to assess blood flow in the legs and screen for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). It compares the blood pressure in the ankles with the blood pressure in the arms.
This test is typically performed by a trained vascular clinician or sonographer using a handheld Doppler device and blood pressure cuffs.
An abnormal ABPI reading may indicate narrowed or blocked arteries, requiring further vascular assessment. At Vascular Care Centre, ABPI testing is part of a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and managing vascular conditions effectively and promptly.
